Energy dialog – multiple approach

Over several years, Russia has been keenly discussing energy issues with the USA and EU and Asian-Pacific countries. Our currently shaped comprehension is of utmost clarity as to our own economic interests related to these countries’ markets as well as the problems to be discussed and resolved. Any energy-related dialogue is aimed at combining processes associated with the national energy strategies implementation. The lesser the contradictions among them and the higher the degree of compatibility among energy policies, the lesser the risks for the global energy security.

However, with the view of ensuring the global energy security, there seems to be no need in constructing any extra storeys wherefrom the energy policies implementation can be managed in this or other country or group of countries. Though improving transparency in the current power engineering policies and extending the strategic horizons for cooperation appear undoubtedly necessary. The forthcoming International Conference with active involvement of business and academic communities and the subsequent Meeting of the G8 energy ministers should bring us to a new level of understanding and confidence.

Achieving sustainable energy development session will be chaired by Andrey Reus, RF Industry and Energy Deputy Minister.

The Conference 2nd day will be concluded with a press-conference to be attended by the RF Industry and Energy Minister Victor Khristenko.
